Ledingham Chalmers goes back to employment law basics at CIPD event — Thursday 7 June 2018

The fundamentals of employment legislation come under the spotlight in Inverness this week as Ledingham Chalmers teams up with the CIPD for its annual employment law event.

The free session — themed ‘back to basics’ — will look at topics including unfair dismissal, harassment, and gender pay gap legislation: giving employers and managers clear information to inform workplace decisions.

At the evening event in Inverness College, which is open to CIPD members and non-members, partner Kirk Tudhope will also present a two minute guide on the four things employers need to know about GDPR: Europe-wide data protection legislation that came into force last month.

He said: “Automatically considering all aspects of employment law as too complex may mean we’re avoiding taking the necessary steps to protect and improve our businesses — and it turns out that some elements are actually more straightforward than we may think.

“Attendees will be able to take part in a discussion about the challenges employers face, and will leave with a clear understanding of the legal basis for the judgement calls they have to make at work.”
