Ledingham Chalmers adds ICAS session in Nairn to its GDPR events list - Wednesday 28 March 2018

With businesses facing the challenges of the fast-approaching GDPR as well as the need to keep up with the ever-changing world of employment law, Ledingham Chalmers will provide a vital update to delegates at a free Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) event in north Scotland later this month.

Inverness-based partner, and head of the employment law team, Kirk Tudhope, will talk at the ICAS event at the Muthu Newton Hotel in Nairn about what businesses should be focussing on ahead of the new GDPR regime coming into force in May.

He will also discuss how data protection works in practice; how businesses can prepare; and the main business risks.

Mr Tudhope will also review major developments in employment law, including harassment in the work place and the challenges arising from the removal of tribunal fees.

He said: “The new GDPR regime — which affects each and every business — will add to the already significant obligations on us all, and it also increases the penalties if we are in breach.

“So, with only a few short months to go, it’s crucial businesses fully understand, and even embrace, this radically-changed approach to data protection.

“And of course, there’s much we all can — and should — be doing now to get prepared.”

This is the event is one of many GDPR-focussed sessions the Scottish full-service law firm has been involved in: a series that has seen its team present to businesses in locations stretching from the Highlands to the central belt.

The Nairn event will come just two weeks after the firm, together with CodeBase Stirling, a tech hub and scale-up incubator, and Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce will talk to businesses about the new legislation.
