Apply for a grant through the Alexander W Davie Trust

If you or someone you know is 25-years-old or younger and meets any of the below criteria, you may be eligible for financial support from this trust we administer.

The Alexander W Davie Trust, a charity registered in Scotland, SC024169, was established in 1992 to provide children and young people with financial assistance for educational purposes.

What type of support does the trust provide?

The trust primarily provides grants to support individuals in primary, secondary, and further education. This can include help with private school fees, provided certain criteria are met.

During the 2025/26 period, the Trust made awards to nine students attending university. These awards totalled £66,400, with individual grants ranging from £3,900 to £7,800. A one-off payment was also made to a young student to assist with piano lessons and piano examination fees relevant to his further education.

In addition, distributions were made to Lumphanan Primary School and Kincardine O’Neil School to support students attending a show pantomime as part of the Alexander Trust Davie Day

Am I eligible to apply?

Applicants need to meet one of these criteria:

  • Category 1 — The applicant was born in the Parish of Lumphanan or his/her parents were resident in Lumphanan at the time the applicant’s birth.

  • Category 2 — The applicant has lived in the Parish of Lumphanan for five years before the application and continues to live there.

  • Category 3 — The applicant was born in either the Parish of Torphins or Kincardine O’Neil, or the applicant’s parents were resident there at the time of the applicant’s birth and the applicant has lived. Additionally, the applicant must have lived in one of these parishes for at least five years before applying and continue to reside there.

How can I apply?

The deadline for applications is Friday, 14 August 2026.

The trustees will consider any applications received after this date although payments may be delayed. Applications for one-off payments can be submitted at any time during the year.
