From building to buddleias — meet reception services manager, Denise Brown

Drystone dyke building and telephone programming may seem an unlikely pairing, but not for our multi-skilled reception services manager, Denise Brown.

Denise has been with Ledingham Chalmers for 25 years and is known for her unflappable reception and telephone programming skills. She’s also a member of our Law Law Land choir, and is likely to be one of the first faces you see when you step into our offices in Aberdeen’s Rose Street.

We had a quick word to find out a little more about one of our best-known team members.

What do you like best about your job?

There’s always a lot going on behind the scenes front of house.

I get to meet so many lovely clients every day, as well as my amazing colleagues who work for the firm. I’m always proudest too when my team gets great feedback, they’re a wonderful group of people.

What are you passionate about?

I love to be in my garden and am especially proud when I see a new plant flowering from a small cutting I’ve propagated. I am also a bit of a DIY enthusiast: I do upholstery, tiling, painting and decorating and I design and sew many of my own clothes. I’m also a passionate recycler.

Tell us something that people might be surprised to learn about you

I have qualifications in drystone dyke building and garden landscaping and design.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Take your time and think about everything that might be a factor before you respond if a problem’s arisen or something challenging has happened: there’s usually a sound explanation, and a good solution.

Don’t rush into anything!
