Ledingham Chalmers gives its ho-ho-whole hearted support to Scottish charities this Christmas

Once something of a fashion faux pas, staff from the full-service law firm across its network of offices raised almost £400 for charity by donning their festive knits for a Christmas Jumper Day.

For its fundraising efforts this year, Ledingham Chalmers, with offices in Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Stirling, opted to support charities with an emphasis on mental health.

As such, the Inverness office raised funds for Befrienders Highland, which improves the lives of lonely and isolated people with experience of mental ill health, memory difficulties, or dementia.

While in the Granite City, two organisations working to support people affected by homelessness will benefit: Aberdeen Cyrenians and Social Bite.

These efforts, which also included office bake sales, come just a few weeks after Ledingham Chalmers pledged £1,500 to Scotland’s largest mental health charity, Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH). This figure included £1,020 raised at its Aberdeen construction lunch in November.

The firm will also make a donation in January to SAMH for every Christmas card sent, a figure expected to be around £1,000.

Chairman and partner Jennifer Young said: “While Christmas jumpers are something of a guilty pleasure for lots of us, like many others across the country, we decided to show ours off and raise some cash for charity.

“This great effort from our teams adds to other work we’ve been doing for organisations in the community.

“We collected a number of boxes of toys for Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas in Aberdeen, Inverness and Edinburgh, and staff also made donations in return for the convenience of having their online orders delivered to the office.”
